Fourth Max Planck Young Legal Scholars' Forum

The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (MPIL) is most delighted to host the 4th Annual Max Planck Young Legal Scholars Forum, which will take place on the 28th and 29th of June 2018 in the most picturesque city of Heidelberg. While in the past, this forum has been dedicated to PhD candidates in law or law related disciplines from within the several Max Planck Institutes (MPIs) alone, this year we intend to also extend the invitation to PhD researchers who are not associated with a particular MPI. With this, we hope, the discussions and debates would acquire further richness and diversity.

As always, the forum is a wonderful opportunity to engage, share experiences, and solidify contacts with other PhD candidates. Participants are encouraged (but not obliged!) to present their ongoing PhD or other institute related research and in the process receive feedback from other participants to the forum. We recommend presentations of 10 to 15 minutes each, allowing sufficient time thereafter for comments and suggestions. The forum will be held in English.

Please do register by the 27th of April, 2018 through the attached registration form:

We will send out confirmations along with recommendations for accommodation and a tentative programme by mid May 2018.

There is no participation fee for attending the forum.

Needless to say that in case you have any questions or clarifications please do not hesitate to contact us at

We look forward to welcoming you in Heidelberg.
