Biographical Note

Born on 22nd July, 1966 in Veerssen. University studies of history, political sciences and public law in Kiel, Edinburgh and Freiburg i. B. (1987 – 1994). Magister Artium, Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (1994). Doctoral thesis at Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and Europa-University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (1994 – 1999). After the completion of the doctorate (1999), editor for the "Kritische Gesamtausgabe Ernst Troeltsch" (1999 – 2001). Training as a professional librarian (“Referendariat”), comparable to the juridical “Referendariat” (2001 – 2003). Two years later after a year of theoretical instructions at the Library School in Frankfurt a. M., graduation as research librarian (“Wissenschaftlicher Bibliothekar”) with the German equivalent of an MLS, “Staatsprüfung für den Höheren Dienst” (2003). Completed an internship with the Bertelsmann Foundation in Gütersloh (project “BIX – der Bibliotheksindex”) with a duration of three months (IV/2003) and after a short stint at the University Library of Würzburg (2004), subject librarian for law and cultural history at the University Library Kiel (2004), since 2009 for history in general. In the Wintersemester 2010/11, teaching position at the University of Kiel and in the year 2011/12, position for one year as research coordinator (“Wissenschaftlicher Koordinator”) in the project DARIAH-DE (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities) at the Goettingen State and University Library. DARIAH aims to build a modern infrastructure in the field of Digital Humanities in a European context. Internships at the Yale University Library (2007, 2008 and 2010). Since 2015 head of library of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg.
