Under German private international law, expropriations by a foreign state will as a rule be considered as valid to the extent this state has remained within the limits of its power. Toleration of such expropriations is limited only by the principles of German public policy (ordre public), pursuant to Art.6 of the Introductory Law of the Civil Code.
