After the fall of the taliban regime Afghanistan's priority is to reconstruct and restructure the country's political system. The legal base of this process are the „Agreement on Provisional Arrangements in Afghanistan Pending the Re-Establishment of Permanent Government Institutions“ of 5 December 2001, also known as the Bonn Agreement, and the Afghan Constitution that came into force 25 January 2004.
