F. Richard Georgi ist Referent im Projekt zu Normkontestation im Bereich menschenrechtlicher Sorgfaltspflichten (Human Rights Due Diligence). Er entwickelte seinen interdisziplinären Forschungshintergrund durch eine Promotion im Bereich Frieden und Entwicklung an der Universität Göteborg und ein Diplom in Politikwissenschaft an der Freien Universität Berlin. F. Richard Georgi war als externer Wissenschaftler für das Deutsche Institut für Menschenrechte tätig und arbeitete als Menschenrechtsbeobachter in Mexiko. Darüber hinaus sammelte er umfangreiche Erfahrungen in der Freiwilligenarbeit für zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen in verschiedenen Ländern, die sowohl seinen festen Glauben an Menschenrechte als auch seine unerbittliche Kritik an ihnen prägen.

In seiner Dissertation untersuchte F. Richard Georgi die Politiken von Menschenrechtsaktivismus in Kolumbien, welcher sich einer gewaltsamen Realität stellen muss, zwischen dem Ende des bewaffneten Konflikts mit der FARC-EP und einem aufgeschobenen Friedensversprechen. Die Dissertation konzentriert sich auf die Stimmen von Menschenrechtsverteidiger*Innen in sehr unterschiedlichen Positionen und Regionen Kolumbiens, die er mittels teilnehmender Beobachtungen, qualitativer Interviews und Dokumentenanalyse einfing. Die vier Forschungsartikel, die den Kern der Dissertation bilden, bringen die Aussagen von Menschenrechtsverteidiger*Innen mit wissenschaftlichen Debatten ins Gespräch, die sich nicht nur auf die Bereiche Menschenrechte, Internationale Beziehungen (IB) sowie Friedens- und Konfliktforschung beschränken.

F. Richard Georgi hat zu folgenden Themen geforscht, gelehrt und veröffentlicht: Menschenrechte, Aktivismus, politische Mobilisierung und Populismus, Frieden und Konflikt, Übergangsjustiz, (digitaler) Kapitalismus und Gerechtigkeit, dekonstruktivistische politische Philosophie, Diskurstheorie und Diskursethnographie sowie feministische Methoden.
