MAKING (INTERNATIONAL) LAW PUBLIC

As ‘scholars in public’, researchers at the Institute contribute to the provision of reliable knowledge and help shape societal discourse through their own media contributions and presence on blogs and panels, participation in lecture series and podcasts, television and radio interviews. Professional support helps them to develop a reflexive understanding of their expert roles, maintain their academic ingrity and autonomy, experiment with new formats and work with MPIL Journalists in Residence. The institute is present in leading German and European newspapers, weeklies, and magazines, in radio, television, and online media.

The Academic Communication team is headed by Alexandra Kemmerer who is responsible for strategic leadership and serves as MPIL's press representative. The Institute's Berlin Office, which she heads, is a forum for dialogue with other scholars, as well as with politics, economy, culture and the media.

Mirko Lux, Science Communication Officer, oversees social media and event documentation. He coordinates media enquiries, provides targeted preparation for interviews and public briefings, and develops new communication formats in collaboration with researchers.

Student assistants support events and contribute to the Institute's public visibility across various media channels and communication formats.
