UN Depository Library

United Nations Depository Library (DL-202)

Since the end of 1949, the Institute’s library holds the status of a United Nation Depository Library. It owns one of the most comprehensive collections of primary literature of the United Nations and its specialized agencies in Germany.

The collection includes documents and publications of:

  • the United Nations in English;
  • numerous UN specialized agencies and other international organizations;
  • the League of Nations, predominantly in French.

In recent years, the United Nations has increasingly made its publications available in digital format.

Documents and publications are searchable via websites ODS and UNBISNET.

Publications that are not available in full text are in most cases part of the collection of the UN Depository Library and can be obtained upon request.

Mission

According to the regulations for UN Depository Libraries, we serve the scientists in our Institute as well as the interested community without charge.

We are glad to provide support in thematic research and answer all questions concerning the details of the available materials.

Access and Information

The collection – especially books, bound serials and journal volumes – can be searched in CPIL, resp.  the OPAC.

As we are a reference library, the material can be consulted in the reading room and can be copied or scanned. Scans or copies of the desired materials may be requested directly or through a local library.

Contact and opening hours

The UN Depository Library is accessible by appointment during the general opening hours of the library. Please reserve your visit by phone or via E-Mail.
