Exposing Prisoners of War on the Internet: Mere Propaganda or War Crime?

The display of Prisoners of War on social media has become an ever-present feature of international armed conflicts. Still, the limits of digital exposure have not yet been adequately defined under international law. The article analyses the legal validity of the prisoner’s individualisation as decisive factor for a violation of international humanitarian law. Moreover, the article outlines the circumstances under which the digital display qualifies as a war crime.
