Academic Career:

Margrét Sólveigardóttir studied law at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík, and obtained a BA in law in 2007 and MA in law in 2009, with a thesis on 'Enforcement Measures of RFMOs against IUU-Fishing on the High Seas'. During her studies she worked at the Kópavogur District Commissioner (Iceland) and completed an internship at the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, Natural Resources Office, Reykjavík (Iceland).

After graduation she worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Law, Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland on the subjects of Icelandic and EU Energy Law and as a researcher and project manager on the project ‘Equality and Non-Discrimination’ funded by the EU PROGRESS-Programme. Margrét was the managing editor for the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law (MPECCoL) at the Max Planck Foundation for International Law Peace and the Rule of Law from 2015-2018, and took over as managing editor for the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law (MPEPIL) in 2018, then under the direction of Rüdiger Wolfrum. She joined the Institute in January 2021 and continues as the managing editor of the MPEPIL under the direction of  Anne Peters.
